Digitalgig was never meant to be just for bands and fans. From the very beginning it was in our minds to support and encourage anyone that was interested in a career in any aspect of the music industry.

It was with this in mind that we decided to allow contributions from you, the reader. We do, however, need to maintain a high level of editorial control. We are not a wiki and have no desire to be one.

GIG REVIEWERS

We need gig reviewers from around the globe to write pieces for our review section. If you would like to contribute please send a review of a recent gig (within 2 weeks if possible) you have attended by an unsigned act to editor@digitalgig.co.uk, include your email address and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. While we can’t pay you for this we would be happy to write a reference for any regular contributor based on the work we receive.

Any reviews we feature will also be available through our back issues section so you could soon build up a body of work for any potential employer to see. In a world where experience matters, this could be a huge step for you to really make it in the world of music journalism. Just one thing, don’t forget us when you’re editor of Rolling Stone magazine!

There are some things you’ll need to remember when writing for us. We have an attitude of ‘if you can’t think of anything good to say, don’t say anything at all’. We are in the business of ‘name then fame’ not ‘name and shame’.

MUSIC TUITION

We are looking for music tutors to contribute to our ‘Bits’ hints & tips area. As with all other contributions, we would not be able to pay you for this but would be glad to add links to your website and fully credit you for anything you write. We would also be happy to feature you in our directory whether you contribute or not. If you would like to contribute please contact the editor@digitalgig.co.uk with a tuition piece you have written and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

PHOTOGRAPHERS

We thrive on good original photos and while we can’t pay for them (sorry) we are happy to credit the photographer and add links to their website / myspace page etc. We would also be glad to add you to our photographers section in our directory.

You may also have noticed a camera icon at the bottom of most pages. This is our Photography Bits section; one of several hints and tips areas for anyone trying to get better at what they do. If you would like to contribute to this section we would be glad to add more links to your website and fully credit you for anything you write. Please contact the editor@digitalgig.co.uk with a short piece and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

VIDEO MAKERS

The modern music world would be a much less colourful place without videos.  If you want to break into music video making the only way to truly learn is to do it.

With this in mind we’re launching a YouTube channel to air all your hard work.  All you need to do is find a willing band (and there should be plenty) and then go for it.

We’re really looking forward to seeing what you make.  When you’ve finished your masterpiece post it on YouTube etc and send the URL to the editor@digitalgig.co.uk.  We’ll get back in touch as soon as we can.

Our international reach means that we can almost guarantee you’ll get some trade from contributing to our magazine.

We advertise to musicians, the industry and press so your profile will definitely be raised.
