Who did you work with on your ‘Last Awake’ EP?

Fiona: “We worked with Rocky O’Reilly. That man is a genius, we had so much fun in the studio, I wish we could go back! He seemed quite shocked at the rock approach we’ve been taking. When we first arrived at the studio we played the four songs for him and he was just stunned! He said he was told that we sounded like Damien Rice! (lol)

What was the experience like?

Chris: “It was like being hit in the face with a warm yogurt!!”

Where do you get the inspiration for your songs?

Fiona: “If the initial idea came from me, it will have come from nowhere. I can never write a good song on demand. I think it’s false; I like the song to write itself, if it doesn’t, I know it’s probably not worth continuing! We’ve been writing more together these days and I think it’s sometimes better. The Bridge is one of my favourite songs and it was written as a band, just by jamming!”

You’ve just played the 5th Belfast annual song writing convention. What was that like?

Chris: “It was great to be asked to play the festival and to be sharing the bill with the likes of Nancy Griffith.”

How did you meet and go on to form the band?

Javed: “Well James and I had a fling back in 02...”

James: “Well Jav, Chris and I had a previous band that had just split up. We eventually got round to reforming and when Javed met Fiona in school, he wanted to get into her so invited her along to practice. Dave joined shortly after because he did a lot of song-writing with Fee. And the rest, as they say is history.
  
What’s been the highlight for Kagura so far?

Appearing on channel 4 music twice in 7 days!! Lovely stuff!!

What’s your dream collaboration?

Prince and kanye west with backing vocals from the sugababes..... in  fact just the blonde one..... and the hot girl that used to be in hanson... and seasick steve
