YOKOZUNA - DOGTALK EP
Yokozuna’s Dogtalk shows a band truly on form. Playing a dirty mix of British Punk and grunge stacked rock, the band blend these together creating songs overflowing with a dark but laid back attitude. Tracks like ‘Join the Club’ show Yokozuna’s kicked back style with drawled vocals and loose guitars giving a great feel, while ‘Murray’ has a darker, sharper edge and a frantic guitar hook, influenced by British Punk and Post Punk. ‘Rich No.1’ also creates a great mix of these styles with another manic guitar and brilliantly driven shouted vocal. Dogtalk is a great EP well worth checking out. You can get hold of a copy by contacting Yokozuna through their myspace page:

WHIZZ KID - THE YELLOW AND BLUE EP
The Yellow and the Blue is a great window into the darker side of electronic music. The opening track ‘Snow Burning’ twists together light sounds and a dark sinister vocal building up a truly unique sound. On ‘Some Kind of Temporary’ drum and bass breakbeats combine with classic dance keyboard sounds but keeps a mellow feel to the song, while the title track is dark in the extreme bordering on the industrial with elements of drum and bass and dance influences. The Yellow and the Blue creates a sense of overwhelming tension through its mix of dark vocals and sinister sounding keyboards. This really is an EP well worth a listen. You can find out how to get hold of a copy of The Yellow and the Blue through the Whizz Kid MySpace page. Do it!

THE MISTAKES - EP
100% full on British punk at its finest. No frills and no garnish, just how punk should be. The Mistakes have produced a collection of classic punk tracks designed to make you jump, stamp and maybe even spit. From the opening chord of the first track ‘Nation’ you know where you are, and you love it! High energy and high attitude, the tracks ‘ASBO Nation’ and ‘CCTV’ bring the classic feel up to date with a modern slant on the lyrics all delivered with fantastically aggressive vocals. The Mistakes have crafted a recording which any fans of punk should stop and have a listen to.

ELLERMAN - COLLAPSE THE WAVE EP
Ellerman’s Collapse the Wave is a powerful yet highly polished EP from the Californian metallers. Opening track ‘This Human Machine’ mixes typically melodic and abruptly aggressive vocals perfectly; welding itself to your mind along the way. Ellerman’s subtle, moody harmonies are a real lynchpin of their sound, putting across a real sense of tense alienation. ‘If Only’ and ‘Neuronet’ move things on a step with a more technical and heavy guitar based sound. Final track ‘Under Red Sky’ is a well constructed and thoughtful attack on consumerism standing out with its understated acoustic arrangement. Well worth checking out, ‘Collapse the wave is available from iTunes. You can also have a listen at their MySpace page:
