THE ZONULES OF ZINN

Indie with a twist from The Zonules of Zinn. Tracks such as ‘Tesco Manana’ show The Zonules combing lyrics which comment humorously on modern life with laidback guitar lines. Their more up tempo tracks such as ‘Happy Apathy’ and the classic ‘AutoMatta’ have great catchy moments with the latter having a keyboard line that just makes you want to dance. Does their myspace backdrop show the true face of ‘The Zonules of Zinn’?

THE SCHOOLGIRLS

Electro punk with juddering keyboards and noise, noise and more lovely noise. Plenty of feedback introduces the first song, ‘Deadman on a Cross One Leg Dangling’. The Schoolgirls bring energy aplenty to their myspace page with a bright orange background attacking your eyes. Squealing guitars and stunningly catchy breakneck keyboards combine with quality post punk vocals on ‘Nine Inch Tails’ to create something really worth a listen.

HELLA CHOLLA

Two piece Hella Cholla combine classy pop hooks with jazz leanings to create a distinct sound. The track ‘Goodies and Baddies’ has a particularly laid back European café feel to it. ‘You’re the Kind of Guy’ is more up tempo with an incredibly catchy chorus. The female and male vocals are beautifully performed. Their myspace page has a choice of four tracks alongside some live and acoustic versions of their tracks. Well worth checking out.

OUR LOST INFANTRY

80’s tinged catchy pop. Our Lost Infantry deliver five memorable tracks while their myspace page gives the viewer the feel of a dusky late summer evening. The vocal performance on the track ‘The Arsonist’ is quite superb, really conveying the emotion of the song to the listener. It is truly a classic. Keyboards mixed with violins give the band their own distinct sound while the track ‘Reformation’  also shows that they have folk leanings.

SOMEONE AND THE SOMETHINGS

Infectious funk with an awesome brass section. Someone and the Somethings show their style with tracks like ‘Moving On’ with its thumping bass line and catchy chorus. The vocals are silky smooth and soaringly powerful in equal portions.  Seductively soulful, they're well worth a listen. Their myspace page pays homage to their musical influences with a tasteful ‘70’s feel.

Them or Us - Photo:

THEM OR US

Classic hardcore punk band from Glasgow. Aggression filled tracks played at full speed with fantastic vocals spat at you with a Scottish twang. Conspiracy is a minute and a half of political punk at its best. Their myspace page matches the dark anger of their tracks. Tinged with venomous lyrical content, Them or Us deliver four blistering tracks of a true punk experience like an incredibly pleasant kick in the teeth.
